Vegan French Dip Sandwiches
Ingredients #
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 medium onion diced into half rings
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 3 Portobello mushroom caps, 20 oz total
- 1 cup vegetable broth
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme
- 1/4 tsp liquid smoke
- 2-6" sandwich rolls
Directions #
- Add 1 Tbsp oil to a skillet
- Add onion and toss with oil, cook until caramelized, about 20 minutes
- Add garlic and cook 2 more minutes
- Transfer to a plate
- Add the remaining oil to skillet with mushrooms, don't crowd them too much, it make take multiple batches
- Cook until lightly browned, about 5 minutes, flip and cook for 5 more minutes
- Add onions back to skillet, add broth, sauces, thyme, and smoke
- Bring to a simmer and cook for about 5 minutes
- Serve immediately
